Call for applications for the IV° edition of the Master in "World Heritage at Work"
The call for applications for the IV° edition of the Master in "World Heritage at Work", offered by the University of Turin, the Polytechnic of Turin and the International Training Centre of ILO, in collaboration with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, is now open.
The programme is intended for professionals involved in the management of World Heritage properties and/or professionals and specialists involved in the preservation or promotion of cultural heritage.
Four categories of participants are invited to apply:
- Officials and/or professionals in the public and private sector, UN Agencies, foundations and NGOs;
- Recent university graduates from developing and developed countries;
- Professionals already involved in cultural projects , or interested in designing and managing special projects;
- People working or interested in World Heritage projects and related research.
The essential requirements for admission are a three year university degree (BA) as well as fluency in the English language
The Master is intended to contribute to improved management of cultural resources through preparing managers and practitioners to be cultural entrepreneurs and promoters of local development, income generation and job creation, enriching the traditional conservation approach. The Programme provides a solid foundation in cultural economics, going through the value chain of cultural and natural resources. It explores in detail the economic, social, institutional and legal considerations that govern the diverse categories of heritage, enabling the monitoring of their effectiveness. It also puts emphasis on strategic management competencies and project management for the preservation and promotion of UNESCO-designated World Heritage Sites (WHS), through the preparation of management plans and projects, including the identification of strategic activities.
The programme will be held in Turin, Italy, at the campus of the International Training Centre of the ILO.
Coursework takes place at the Centre's compact and functional campus, where participants from around the world meet, live and learn together, in a stimulating international environment. The campus and facilities (bank, post office, travel agency, laundry, gym, sports and recreation facilities) provide an ideal environment for living and studying, sharing experience and creating networks.
The tuition fee is EURO 6000 and it includes:
- Training facilities
- Training materials
- University registration fees
(Board and Lodging not included).
A limited number of scholarships is available to participants from developing and transitions countries.
