Call for Applications: Training Session by the Association of World Heritage Properties in France: “World Heritage Interpretation”

The Association of World Heritage Properties in France (ABFPM) is launching a call for candidates for the second national training session “Interpretation – World Heritage” which will be held from 7 to 9 March 2016 at the Arc-et-Senans Royal Saltworks (France).
This intensive and operational training is aimed towards personnel in charged with welcoming the public to World Heritage properties in France or with interpretation and education at the properties.
Its principal objective is to:
- (Re)discover the fundamentals of World Heritage (the 1972 World Heritage Convention, the inscription process, the Declaration of Outstanding Universal Value, etc.);
- Understand the evolution of the World Heritage Convention through the French inscriptions
- Understand the challenges of integrating the values of an inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List into interpretation;
- Examine individual professional practices and discover tools for interpretation that can potentially be re-used in participants’ own areas;
- Acquire keys to concrete application in daily activities;
- Participate in the creation of a national network of interpreters of World Heritage.
